Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on the UK education system, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”
In response to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede dismissed the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.
However, his comments suggested the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind as opposed to current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, with educators comprising half and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in recent years caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
During the American gathering, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
