Nancy continues to cling to the fact his team show good levels for a half at a time. In fact, if not for wastefulness in front of goal they would have been better than 1-0 up. “The performance had merit aside from the fact that we didn't take more goals,” he said. “I know that we lost, but I have also to be objective.

“The performance we had at certain moments was really, really, really high. That is a fact. And I would not speak so positively if it was not the case. But that’s why, in terms of results, I noted this is the same story. Which is why I believe a change is coming to getting it right. But for the moment: small things.”

“We produced many, many good things that we did, as was the case today. But now it’s about sustaining it. My narrative would change if it was not the case. That’s why I am convinced we will manage to get back on track.”

Röhl’s Cautious Outlook

Danny Röhl played down talk of a title charge despite what seemed like a huge result. “We take it game by game, and we can gradually build something here,” he said. “The confidence in the team is outstanding.”
